Survival Cannibalism from the Viewpoint of Islamic and Western Moral Philosophy
Abstract
From various aspects, both legal, criminal law and Islamic law, the practice of cannibalism is something that is strictly prohibited. However, various cases show that the human instinct to survive is the background for these cases to occur, such as one case of a plane crash in 1972 in the Andes. Departing from this case, it becomes important not only to formulate legal laws but to provide basic arguments through moral or ethical philosophy. In this case the researcher finds that ethical concepts such as hedonism and utilitarianism are not suitable for this case. On the other hand, Islamic ethics, especially those formulated by Ibnu Maskawaih, are very suitable because they involve the human soul in their moral philosophy
